I just read two very fascinating articles on this whole incident. And I think one thing is clear, it reveals how many double standards we still have in this country.
First, allow me to address this controversy…
I think it’s wrong in this day & age that we hold people to what essentially is a morality clause. Ime Udoka, to the best of my knowledge is a married man, & he was basically suspended & is still subject to termination due to what amounts to an extramarital affair. Dafuq?
Now, before I go any further, I also need to address the controversy at ESPN over this, specifically Malika Andrews & Stephen A. Smith.
First, do I agree with everything Stephen A. Says? No! But, in this instance, I feel the need to defend him.
He simply asked the question on so many of our minds, where is the suspension for the female employee? It takes to carry on an affair. Bottom line…
Malika Andrews felt it was her duty to call Stephen A. on what she felt was ‘Slut Shaming’. That isn’t what Stephen A. was doing, he was simply pointing out a double standard.
Now, people on Twitter were quick to defend Stephen A. but, as per usual, some people went too far.
Malika Andrews is an African-American woman & she is currently dating a white male co-worker. And people felt it was necessary to attack her for that. Again, double standard, where was the hate during the relationship between Jalen Rose & Molly Qerim? Double standard much?
And now people are attacking random female Celtics employees on Twitter over this incident. Just makes me laugh…
That’s all I have to say about that…
Until next time: I’m Steve & I’m out!
