It took me a while to post this, I originally didn't want to post this, but I'll post this now.
Jim Ross and Jerry 'The King' Lawler are your commentary team. And this show was from the Hartford Civic Center in Hartford, CT.
This event took place on 02-27-2000
The show starts off with the Intercontinental championship match as champion Chris Jericho w/Chyna defends against European champion Kurt Angle.
This match was good. A lot of back & forth between Jericho and Angle.
The match ended when Jericho went for the Lion-sault on Angle but Angle was holding the European championship and hit Jericho with it, allowing him to pin Jericho and become a double champion.
WWF Tag Team championship match:
New Age Outlaws (c) vs. The Dudley Boyz
This match was significant because this was the final match (for a while) that the New Age Outlaws teamed together. Going into this match, Billy Gunn was injured, he injured his shoulder on the go-home edition of Smackdown.
The match ended when the Dudley's hit Billy Gunn in the shoulder with a lead pipe, allowing D-Von and Buh-Bub Ray to hit the 3-D on Road Dogg for the pin fall victory to win the Tag Team championship..
After the match there is tension between Road Dogg and Bill Gunn.
The following night on Raw, Triple H, X Pac and Road Dogg kick Billy Gunnout of DX, and that allowed WWF to write Billy Gunn off of TV to gety shoulder surgery, and when he returns the New Age Outlaws are no more.
Mark Henry vs. Viscera.
This was just two big men doing their thing in the ring. This match wasn't announced until the Sunday Night Heat just one hour before the show when Henry attacked Viscera after Viscera attacked Mark Henry's girlfriend, Mae Young (Who is close to 80 and in storyline, is pregnant with Mark Henry's baby..)...
Mark Henry wins by pin fall following a World's Strongest Slam.
Edge and Christian vs. The Hardy Boyz (Matt & Jeff) w/Terri
Another good tag yeam match.
The match ends after Terri betraqys The Hardy's by shoving Jeff off the top rope and slapping Matt, allowing Christian to hit his finisher for the pin fall victoiry and to secure a tage team title match at WrestleMania.
Tazz vs. Big Boss Man w/Prince Albert
Tazz wins by disqualification after Albert interferes. After the match, Boss man and Albert beat down Tazz but Tazz won't stay down.
No Disqualification match:
X Pac w/Tori vs. Kane w/Paul Bearer.
X Pac wins after kane picked up the ring steps and X Pac drop kkicked the steps, and Kane went down holding the steps and X Pac covered for the pin fall victory.
6-Man tag team match:
Too Cool (Rikishi, Scotty 2 Hotty and Grand Master Sexay) vs. Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn and Chris Benoit w/Eddie Guerrero
Eddie Guerrero was chased off early in the match after Rikishi hit him in his injured elbow with a lead pipe.
Too Cool wins after Rikishi hit Malenko with the Bansai Drop for the pin fall victory.
Match to determine the #1 contender toe the WWF Championship at WrestleMania 2000
The Rock vs. The Big Show.
The Big Show hit the choke slam, but the referee was knocked out of the ring, The Rock then hit The Rock Bottom and was about to go for the People's Elbow when Shane Mcmahon makes his return, and as The Rock is about to hit the elbow, Shane blasts The Rock with a chair, allowing The Big Show to get the pin fall victory.
Man event: Hell In A Cell Match for the WWF Championship (Cactus Jack must win the WWF Championship or his career is over...)
Triple H (c) w/Stephanie McMahon vs. Cactus Jack.
The match ended with Cactus taking a 2 x 4 wrapped in barbed wire, set it on fire, and Triple H back dropped Cactus through the roof of the cell to the mat.
Triple H hit The Pedigree for the pin fall victory.
Triple H retained the title.
Cactus would return a month later to headline WrestleMania 2000
I'll continue my rewatch between the yeaqrs 2000-2001 from WWF/WCW/ECW.
Until next time, I'm Steve & I'm just living the dream
