Classic PPV Ramblings: WCW Uncensored 2000 03-23-2025

Okay, this is my look back at WWF/WCW/ECW in the years 2000-2001, and to round out March 2000, here is my look at WCW Uncenso0red 2000. It took place on March 19th, 2000 from the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida.

5,000 were in attendance with Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay and Mark Madden on commentary.

The event  starts with Chris Candido come to the announce desk.

WCW Cruiserweight Championship Match:

The Artist Formerly Known As Prince Iaukea (c) w/Paisley vs. Psychosis w/Juventud Guerrera

This match was passable, didn't really need Chris Candido sitting there and rambling inconherently about challenging the champion after the match.

Iaukea hits a jumping DDT from the top rope after a distraction by Paisley to win and retain.

Norman Smiley & The Demon vs. Lane & Rave.

First, Lane & Rave have undergone many gimmicks in WCW, Rave, originally known as Lodi when in Raven's Flock was linked to Lenny Lane, and they originally teased a gay angle. And then they were Standards and Practices and were managed by Ms. Hancock (Stacy Keibler...), which was Vince Russo's tongue in cheek middle finger to the censors at Turner Broadcasting.

Anyhow, Ms. Hancock joins the commentary team.

Again, I checked out during this match, Smiley & Demon won by submission when Smiley locked in the Norman Conquest (Crossface Chickenwing...).

Next, Bam Bam Bigelow vs. The Wall...

(Is this show over yet?)

Jeez Louise. Bigelow wins by disqualification after The Wall chokeslams him through a table covered in computors monitors.

After the match David Flair and Crowbar attack The Wall, because in the weeks leading up to this match The Wall chokeslammed them both through multiple tables.

Anyhoo, The Wall takes off Crowbars neckbrace and chokeslams him off the scaffolding from 15 feet in the air through the platform.

Okay, the commentary team just wouldn't let this go.

Between match Brian Knobbs dedicates his Hardcore Championship to Bigelow and Crowbar.

Next match Hardcore Gauntlet match for the WCW Hardcore Championship.

3 Count (Evan Karagias, Shannon Moore & Shane Helms) (c) vs. Brian Knobbs...

This match was bad...Knobbs somehow manages to pin all 3 members of 3 Count in seperate pins to become the new Hardcore champion....

I popped when this match was over, it's just a shame this event isn't over yet.

The next match was actuallt the match of the night.

Billy Kidman w/Torrie Wilson & Booker vs. Harlem Heat 2000 (Stevie Ray & Big T) w/Kash & J. Biggs.

Thus was match of the night, but when dealing with WCW in 2000 isn't such high praise.

Somehow Big T (FKA Ahmed Johnson...) did a dive over the barricade into Kidman, which was impressive considering the wieght her put on after leaving the WWF, and it was also funny, because he almost did himself in the face on the floor by barely hitting Kidman.

Anyhoo...Kidman did a Sunset Flip on Big T and then Booker hit the Harlem Sidekick allowing Kidman to get the pinfall victory for his team.

Just to clarify, none of the matches on the card, except the *clears throat...* the main event went  more than 9 minutes, and two didn't even go 5 minutes, and the main event didn't even crack 15 minutes.

Anyhow, next a falls count anywhere match between Vampiro vs. Fit Finlay

Did I somehow go back in time to The Great American Bash in 1996?  No wonder this is Kevin Sullivan's last event as booker in WCW he tried to harken back to his falls count anywhere match with Chris Benoit.

Only difference, Benoit vs. Sullivan was actually good.

Vampiro won, but I could've cared less.

Later, Finlay said the better man won and that he set out to teach Vampiro respect and he did tha. Sometimes the jokes just write themselves.

Next.

WCW World Tag Team Championship:

The Mamalukes (Big Vito & Johnny The Bull)  (c) w/Disco Inferno vs. The Harris Brothers (Ron & Don)

I like Ron & Don Harris, but talk about one team who benefitted from Vince Russo going home in January, they were saddled with the horrible gimmick of being Creative Control (Gerald and Patrick), a not so veiled shot at the WWF and Gerald Brisco and Pat Patterson..

Anyhow, Harris Brothers win after hitting the H-Bomb on both Vito and Johnny...after the match, they evn hit one on Disco Inferno.

On to the next match, A Bullrope Match between Dustin Rhodes and Terry Funk...

, it was a guy in a chiTerry Funk cmae out with a chicken, and actual, oven-stuffer roaster and said this reminds him of Dustin's old man, and then he said he was bringing out Dustin's baby brother, it was a guy in a chicken costume (dear God, can this GD event be over?).

Anyhow, I tuned out during this match...

Dustin Rhodes wins...

Now...excuse me, it'll be hard for me to remian impartial as I describe this next match.

For context, please use Google and search Elizabeth Huelette...

Next...Is a Lumberjack match between: Sting and future paraplegic The Total Disgrace....err, I mean, Package....Lex Loser...damn! I mean Luger w/(future Larry "Lex Luger' Pfohl murder victim...) Miss Elizabeth...

It's hard to believe, this match was from March of 2000, by May of 2003, Elizabeth is dead (Thanks to Luger...) and now Luger is a paraplegic, and all because he's Triple H's bodybuilding idol, he gets inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame....

Anyhow...Again, I tuned out, beacuse...well...Luger. Sting wins after hitting the Scorpion Death Drop for the victory.

Okay...(Hang in there, Steve, it's almost over...2 matches left...) Double main event:

WCW World Heavyweight Championship:

Sid Vicious (c)) vs. Jeff Jarrett...

You know, the original reason that Vince 'Shit Stain' Russo left the WWF was becuase he claimed the Vince McMahon shot down the idea of putting the WWF Championship on Jeff Jarrett, it was years later that Russon concoted the story of wanting raise and wanting tin move to Indiana.

Anyhoo...

Sid wins and retains by pinfall, after Hulk Hogan (?) came out to assist Sid.

Ric Flair comes out and attacks Hogan and immediately the begin the Indian Strap Match between Flair & Hogan...

I honestly think Kevin Sullivan and whoever produced this match forgot the rules of a fecking strap amtch. Hogan, begins touching the turnbuckles (you must touch all four corners in succession to win the match...), when Hogan....for reasons...hits the Atomic Leg Drop and pins Flair for the win, and THEN touches the fourh corner...

And mercifully this event is over...

You know, this is the 3rd WCW in 2000 event, I've watched so far in my recap of WWF/E, WCW, ECW in 2000-2001, and they've steadily gotten worse...

Anyhow, next I'll review the Night Of The Living Multi-Person Matches, (aka WWF WrestleMania 2000) soon.

Until next time, I'm Steve &, well...I'm just...I'm just living the dream!
